Personal Statement
Whether on the course or off, I always try to be positive. I enjoy being part of a team. When I was a freshman, I played on the Junior Varsity boys team because my school did not have a girls team. When I was told there would be a girls team starting my sophomore year, I immediately got my friends involved so we would have something to do that was fun outside of school. Since our team was made up of beginners, I asked my mom, who is a golf professional, to give them some lessons. She and I got them playing before our official season started.
Our first year exceeded our expectations by winning two matches. The team enjoyed playing with each other and we enjoyed competing and getting to know the other teams. I was medalist at several matches and represented Amity High School at the 2016 CIAC High School Golf Championships by qualifying as one of eight individuals. I received the Most Valuable Player award for the 2016 season from my peers. As the team captain I like to lead by example by working hard and always having a good attitude.
Both of my parents are professional golfers, so I have been playing golf since I can remember. I try to focus on both academics and athletics so I can be successful in both. While golf may be important to me, it does not define me, and the experience of education, golf, and friendships are what I am looking for in my college career.
