Personal Statement
My interest in golf started when I was 8 years old, sparked by a family history of golf players and greens superintendent. I began taking private lessons and playing with family and in charity tournaments. In 8th grade, I was able to join the high school team. I am the only female player on my high school team and rose to the number one spot in my sophomore year. Over the last two years, I have competed in the Philadelphia Junior PGA to further challenge myself. My next goal is to play at the college level. Ultimately, I would like to have a career that combines my love of golf and my interest in marketing.
I have attended Wilmington Christian School for 11 years. Besides my participation on the golf team, I have been on both the junior varsity and varsity basketball team (4 years) and managed the varsity volleyball team. I am also member of the National Honor Society. While in high school I have been a teacher’s assistant for the elementary school.
In addition, I am active in Girl Scouts and volunteer activities. For 11 years, I have been an active member of Troop 709, and received the Gold Award, which requires leading an 80 hour project to benefit the community. I have consistently participated in my family’s local charity, Shoes That Fit of Delaware, which provides new shoes and uniforms to children in the state since I was 5 years old.
