Personal Statement
I have been playing golf since I was 8 and have always dreamed of competing at the collegiate level. However, I only became serious about that dream about 3 1/2 years ago. I push myself to be the best I can be and give 110% every day to reach my full potential. What sets me apart from other recruits is my strong work ethic. I believe hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work. To reach my full potential, I work not only with my swing coach, but with my mental game coach as well. The work on my mental game has helped me progress in ways I could not have done just physically alone. Another way I am striving to reach my full potential and be the best athlete I can be, is by working with a personal trainer to become a well rounded athlete for my future College team. I believe in seizing the day and never giving up. Golf has taught me that persistence pays off. I want to play for a college where I can be an asset to the team. I am a leader, constantly supporting others. I always strive to do my best in academics by taking all honors and AP courses, and study hard so I can excel in character, athletically, and academically. Finally, even on my most challenging days at the golf course, I always remember what my grandfather taught me-Ely Callaway's Rule 35-Enjoy the Game.
