Personal Statement
Aloha coaches,
My name is Kalea Heu and I am a junior at H.P. Baldwin High School here on Maui, Hawaii. I have been playing the game of golf since I was 8 years old. I am 5'4" and 112 lbs.
I would like to play and participate in college golf because I believe that the experience will not only better me as a golfer, but as a person as well. The morals and experiences taught within that level of golf will help me build better qualities on and off the golf course. Some qualities I try to portray for my teammates and coaches are good sportsmanship and a positive environment. My #1 rule when I'm on the course is "If you have a bad hole, it's only one hole. Move on and learn."
During MIL golf seasons I practice 5 days a week and try to work out and exercise on weekends. Off season I usually practice around 3 or 4 days a week depending on my schedule.
I have not yet decided on a desired major, but business and/or education are a couple of my options right now.
My desired goals for college golf are to be able to play on the team and not sit out for the season. I want to participate in tournaments around the country. Traveling is a high expectation for me, yet I understand that academics and grades are very important. During my freshman year of high school I maintained a 3.5+ for my GPA. As a sophomore this year I try my best to balance academics and golf, yet I am able to manage both. I am well with time management and I can set my priorities straight.
A college that I think would best fit my needs as a golfer and college student would be a small school and a Division II golf team. Playing on the team is very very important for me and a high requirement I wish to achieve.
I hope this information has educated you well enough to know more about me as a golfer and person. Thank you for your time.
Mahalo,
Kalea Heu
