Personal Statement

My name is Hannah Butler. My goal is to play golf collegiately at a place where I can grow and reach my full potential both on and off the course. I am willing to put in the time and work that it takes, to become the best player and more importantly best teammate that I can be. I consider myself a leader and always try to lead by example. Examples include, my involvement in Student Council, Youth in Philanthropy, and Key Club. I have a huge respect for the game and pride myself on good etiquette, sportsmanship, and being humble. Therefore making personal statements like this does not come easy and there are way too many "I's" in this statement. That being said, I will give all that I have both academically and athletically to make myself and those around me better.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Iowa Junior Amateur Championship
  • 8/07/18 to 8/08/18
  • This was originally to be played in June. It was postponed because of flooding. The course was still in pretty rough shape from all the water. Shot 86 day one and 79 day two.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hurricane: Minnesota Junior Open
  • 6/23/18 to 6/24/18
  • Had 4 straight days of golf camp at home course, then left straight from camp and drove 4 hours to the tournament. Difficult but beautiful course. Played well, having never played or seen the course before. Finished in 4th place. Day 1 shot 82 (41/41). Day 2 shot 83 (39/44).
  • Camp/Event
  • Class 2A State Championship
  • 5/29/18 to 5/30/18
  • Placed 4th as an individual, the team placed 3rd. Shot 163 for the 2 days. 82 / 81. Had a nice front 9 on day 2 shooting an even par 36.
  • Camp/Event
  • Class 2A Regional
  • 5/21/18 to 5/21/18
  • Shot 77, 39/38. Had 1 eagle for the second of the season. Qualified for state for the 3rd consecutive year. The team qualified as well, for the first time since 1976.
  • Camp/Event
  • Siouxland Conference Meet
  • 5/10/18 to 5/10/18
  • Final meet before sectionals. It was a cold, windy and rainy day. Shot a pair of 42s, Had a little bad luck on a par 5. Hit a great drive. Hit the second just as planned but the ball ended up buried in 1 little strip of fescue in the middle of the fairway. Could barely see the ball or get a club on it and ended up w/ a triple. Had a double on 1 par 3. Take away those 2 holes and it was a reasonably solid day. Did manage 1 birdie. We took first place as a team and also won the first conference title in 23 years.
  • Camp/Event
  • Practice round
  • 5/01/18 to 5/01/18
  • Happy to get first 9 holes of practice in for the season. Shot 39, hit 5/7 fairways, 5 GIR, 17 putts. ( 3 pars, 3 bogeys, 1 double, 2 birdies, just barely missed eagle putt on #1)
  • Camp/Event
  • Sibley Invitational
  • 4/30/18 to 4/30/18
  • Gusting winds of 40-50 mph. Drove the ball very well and was pleased w/ ball striking even though scoring conditions were difficult. Shot 44, placed 2nd to little sister Grace 43. Team finished 1st. The next closest competitors finished 5 and 6 strokes back respectively.
  • Camp/Event
  • Siouxland Conference Meet
  • 4/26/18 to 4/26/18
  • Finally playing again, even if in 30 mph winds. We've had to get right to it without practice rounds or outdoor practice because of 2 blizzards and a winter storm this month. Shot 43, started off slow, then started to find it with an eagle. Played the last 4 holes 1 under. With off-season swing work, all clubs are at least 10 yards longer and not quite dialed in.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Junior Qualifier
  • 7/24/17 to 7/24/17
  • Shot 89 finished in 22nd. Didn't achieve goal but gained valuable experience playing in first AJGA event.
  • Camp/Event
  • Siouxland Conference Meet
  • 5/08/17 to 5/08/17
  • Medalist with a 41, played well, better than score indicates, on a difficult links course with deep rough, fast greens, in high winds.
  • Camp/Event
  • Siouxland Conference Meet
  • 4/06/17 to 4/06/17
  • First meet of the season, typical early Northwest Iowa weather and course conditions, took medalist honors by 2 strokes with a 41.
  • Camp/Event
  • Wounded Warrior Project Pro-Am
  • 8/09/16 to 8/09/16
  • Played w/ Pros from the Dakota Tour, shot 86, 40/46. Lot of fun and great experience.
  • Camp/Event
  • Okoboji Junior Tour
  • 8/01/16 to 8/01/16
  • Final stop of four on the Okoboji Junior Tour 9 hole events. Finished in 1st place with a score of 40. Also won the overall tour title.
  • Camp/Event
  • Iowa Women's Amateur Championship
  • 7/29/16 to 7/31/16
  • Camp/Event
  • Okoboji Junior Tour
  • 7/25/16 to 7/25/16
  • 3rd stop of 4 on the Okoboji Junior Tour 9 hole events. Really didn't feel well, probably should have respectfully WD, plowed through anyway to a 48.
  • Camp/Event
  • Okoboji Junior Tour
  • 7/18/16 to 7/18/16
  • 2nd stop of four, on the Okoboji Junior Tour, 9 hole events, finished in 2nd with a 42.
  • Camp/Event
  • Okoboji Junior Tour
  • 7/11/16 to 7/11/16

  • Camp/Event
  • 2016 Iowa Girls' Junior Amateur Championship

  • Class 2A Iowa Girls High School State Championship
  • 5/31/16 to 6/01/16
  • Day 1: Shot 38 on the front 9, was leader at the turn, shot 44 on the back 9 for an 82 tied for 3rd. Day 2: Shot 43 / 42 for an 85. Total 167 finished tied for Sixth.
