Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Kamryn Stockton and I am a 2023 golfer. I knew I wanted to play golf ever since I was a little girl driving the golf cart with my grandparents while they were golfing. The summer of my freshman year, my dad and I went to buy clubs and I fell in love instantly. I kept playing with my dad, friends, and grandparents. My freshman year is when I got serious about playing and joined my high school team. I knew that I wanted to continue this sport for the rest of my life. I love the game and I could not be more proud of how far I have come in just three short years.
I have accomplished so much in the past few years. Starting with my freshman year, my average for 9 holes was about a 67. I received the best attitude award for having a very good attitude on and off the course. My sophomore year I had a 9 hole average of 52. I had cut so many strokes off in just one year! I golfed in the varsity one spot on my team for a majority of the year. I finished 4th in conference and earned 1st team all conference honors. I was also named MVP of my team. This past season was my best season yet. I was varsity one for the entire year and MVP of the golf team again. I came in first at conference and earned 1st team all conference honors. I finished 8th at regionals and qualified for sectionals. My average for 9 holes dropped down to a 48 this year. In just three short years, I was able to bring my 9 hole average down 19 strokes!
I am very passionate about the game and I want to continue to get better. My goal for college is to play low-scoring golf while maintaining good grades. I feel I would be a strong player to add to anyone’s team and I am a hard worker who will make any coach proud. I am open to traveling anywhere and I would be thrilled to be a part of any team. This would be a great opportunity for me to meet new people, work on my mentality on the course, play great golf, and, of course, have fun!
