Personal Statement
I am a 5’ 10” senior (20') from North Easton, Massachusetts. My school, Oliver Ames, does not have a girl’s golf team, so I play on the Varsity Boys team. I am the only girl on the team and have been an active player since my freshman year. Our team won the South Sectional Championships for the last three years and I posted the low score (78) to capture this year’s team win and qualify for the State individual tournament.
In addition to golf, I also played varsity basketball and varsity tennis since my freshman year. I plan to pursue competitive golf in college, and feel my diverse experience in sports has made me a stronger athlete both physically and mentally.
I am an honors student and have been recognized for my leadership skills by the Mass Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) as a student ambassador and by receiving the MIAA Women in Sports Award.
I am a determined and hard-working individual. I’m comfortable under pressure and thrive on competition. I’m looking for a school where I can be challenged both in the classroom and on the golf course. My parents were both collegiate athletes, and reflect positively on the impact that competitive sports have had on their personal and professional lives. I’d like to be part of an institution where athletes are as passionate about their sport as they are their academic careers.
