Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Kharissa Carras. I am a senior at H. H. Dow High School in Midland, MI. I have played recreational golf since I was 10 and tournament golf for the last year. Prior to the summer of 2012, I was heavily involved in high school and AAU national volleyball teams. In November of 2012 however I shifted my sports emphasis completely to golf. I am doing as much as I can to improve my skills at tournament golf. In addition to leading my High School golf team, I am going to continue to play Future Collegians World Tour and AJGA tournament golf throughout my senior year. I am committed to improvement and confident that I can close the gap between my fellow competitors. My swing coach, Mr. Jim Deiters, is the Head PGA professional at the Midland Country Club, and a former teaching professional at Desert Mountain, Scottsdale, AZ where he has helped several junior players achieve national rankings. He has helped me immensely with strong fundamental improvements and recent tournament successes. I was just named the league's MVP and I am the captain on my high school team.
I played on both school and travel basketball and volleyball teams and I enjoy being a part of a team. While golf is an individual sport, I consider myself a great teammate and I look forward to being a part of a collegiate golf team. I am positive, energetic, and hardworking individual who is the first player to get to the practice range and the last one to leave. I feel that I have made tremendous progress but have the drive to do much more. I am an excellent student, have made good time management skills, and am confident I can balance the demands of academic and athletic activities at the collegiate level.
If given the opportunity I will become not only a strong player on your team, but someone you can point to in your program and be proud of. I believe I would truly be an asset and strong contributor on your team, as well as a credit to your university. I will not disappoint you coach, and I look forward to hearing from you.
