My involvement in the sport of golf is a result of my family’s love for the game. My first set of (plastic) clubs were given to me on my 1st birthday. We are fortunate to play the game together; cousins to grandparents whom have been playing since before I was born. I started playing competitively when I was 10 years old. My skills progressed rapidly and within 2 years, I won my first championship match shooting a 30 on a Par 29 executive course. I quickly advanced to play on the regulation course and have accomplished “personal bests” every year. I knew this year was a milestone for me shooting under 80 for the first time in a practice round and following it up with an 86 in Sectionals.
Being a multi-sport athlete, I had a tough decision to make when I headed to high school in choosing 1 of 3 sports to play. I chose golf for a number of reasons. Golf has taught me a lot about myself, and I have learned that I am determined and I don’t give up when the game gets tough. Being patient is also an important character trait that I have developed through academics and sports. I am proud of my academic accomplishments such as becoming a member of the National Honor Society and looking forward to participating in the Ambassador Leadership Summit this summer at Johns Hopkins.
My wish for my college years is that they be ones of personal growth in the classroom and on the golf course. My goal is to explore a health major that will position me well for medical school. On the course, I strive to be a determined player and have a positive influence on the team. As I advance mentally and physically throughout my college golf career, I will work hard to maintain my high academic standards. I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the course, knowing that my actions and words reflect my team, coach and school.Statistic | 2016 Varsity Team | 2015 Varsity Team | 2014 Varsity Team |
