Personal Statement

Hi my name is Eryn Olson and I live in Bloomington, MN. I will be a senior during the 2010-2011 school year. I will be attending college in the fall of 2011. My passion is and always will be golf. I started playing golf at the age of 4 and have loved the game ever since. Golf to me is not just a sport that people play; it is a lifestyle in which people learn from their mistakes. This quote from Bobby Jones is spot on with how golf and real life come together. He once said "Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots; but you have to play the ball where it lies." My goals after high school are to go to a college with a strong business program where I can play on the golf team. Being from Minnesota, the high school golf season is only 2 months long. I would love to go to a golf college in a warm climate where I can play golf in the Fall and Spring seasons. As a student athlete I work hard in the classroom as well as on the golf course. My junior and senior year I am participation in the Post Secondary Enrollment Option at my high school where I am attending Normandale Community College to take a couple college classes there where I am receiving high school and college credit. When I am not attending school, I am usually working on perfecting my golf game. This past winter I worked with a golf trainer who helped me to improve my swing and core balance. My new swing has helped my become a much better golfer, during the 2010 high school golf season I placed medalist in 3 matches and also qualified to play in the state tournament. It was a great experience for me to play in the state tournament with many other great golfers that I also play with during the summer in the PGA Players Tour Division. I continue to challenge myself academically and athletically. I am determined to be the best that I can be and have all my hard work pay off by having the opportunity to play golf in college.
