Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Tierney Messmer. I am currently a junior at Sidney High School. I am a two sport athlete for Sidney High School playing basketball, but golf is my passion. It is my desire to play college golf at the Division I or Division II level. My GPA throughout high school is a 4.0 and I am the Vice President of National Honor Society and serve as treasurer of Leo Club at SHS. My intentions are to study occupational therapy or sports medicine in college while being a team leader in helping the women's golf program achieve championships.
I have been playing golf since I was very young, starting with junior golf lessons at age four. I've worked on improving my game throughout junior high and high school. My freshman year, I scored in the 90's and 100's, while placing fifth at divisionals and helping our team earn the divisional title. My sophomore year, I scored in the 80's and 90's and placed second at the divisional tournament, contributing to our team's second divisional title. I went on to place seventh at state individually, while our team placed second. My junior year, I averaged in the 80's and had a personal best tournament score of 79. I placed third at the divisional tournament and helped our team to our third divisional title. I tied for fifth individually and helped lead our team to the state title. I am constantly striving to be a better player through my hard work ethic, with hopes of playing at the college level.
