Personal Statement
I began to play competitive golf when I was in the seventh grade on the Minot High JV team. In the past four years, I have worked hard on my golf technique and have worked hard at learning how to compete in golf. Early in my competitive golf, I played simply hoping to shoot a lower score. Through hard work on both the physical and metal parts of the game I now believe I can compete. I am now working with my teaching professional to set goals, address weakness, and improve my game.
In 2007 as a 9th grader, I played 7 varsity rounds with a 96.0 scoring average. In 2008 as a 10th grader, I played 11 varsity rounds with a 84.2 scoring average. In 2009 as an 11th grader, I played 11 varsity rounds with a 83.2 scoring average. Currently in 2010 as a 12th grader, I have played 5 varsity rounds with a 77.4 scoring average. I have always emphasized my education before sports. Right now, my goal is to attend medical school and I am looking for a college or university with a strong science background. I've found that academics and athletics go hand-in-hand. I am finding that I can take success from the classroom and use it on the course and vice-versa. I know that I'm capable of and do want to play golf in college. Again, I am working hard to prepare myself for the best opportunities. My family has been saving toward my college education, but it is likely that we will need some financial assistance to cover the investment in my future.
To date, I have accomplished a cumulative GPA of 4.0 and am rank 1 out of 479 in my class. I am the President of Honor Society. I was the president of Key Club and a member of National Honor Society. I was selected to attend the North Dakota Leadership Seminar in June 2009.
As a senior looking back, I have worked hard to improve my game, shot lowest competitive rounds, and earned many honors. I now know that there is a college golf game for me out there.
