Personal Statement

My name is Rachel Blauert.  Currently, I am a junior at Sidney High School in Sidney, NE.  I am very new to golf.  I've been playing golf since I was a freshman in high school.  I started due to an agreement with my parents that I would participate in one year of golf if they let me audition for the high school dance team.  Needless to say, it has grown to be an integral part of my life and my sanctuary.  I spend countless hours working on my game to improve.  My strongest area of my golf game is my short game.  I work extremely hard on my short game, especially chipping.  This year I am including more focus on my driver and approach shots.

Academics is also very important to me.  I plan to study journalism and mass media broadcasting.  I fell in love with journalism just like I fell in love with golf. I hope to work for a magazine company or news broadcasting show one day.

While attending college, I desire to play collegiate golf.  I enjoy playing tournaments and competing against others.  I would say I'm good at competing because I keep a level head and continue to be optimistic even during difficult situations.
