Rebecca Markunas '16 Recruiting Profile

I would like to play golf, study business and aspire to go to law school after college.  I am a good candidate because I enjoy practicing, playing and I am a very good teammate helping others improve.   I really enjoy being part of a "team" in HS. I was part of the girls varsity swim team and the all-boys Golf team (was undefeated in Sophmore & Junior years playing #4 and #3 spots). GHIN is currently 5.2.   I am captain of the Girls varsity swim team and captain of the boys golf team. I really enjoy the golf & swim teams in high school and participating in other clubs like Mock trial, Model U.N. and volunteering at the local hospital and teaching young children how to swim.
I also participate in IJGT, local Met PGA and USGA tournaments.  Shot career low round of 75 (+3)  at Optimist qualifier on June 6, 2015 at Eisenhower Park and qualified to attend the Optimist Junior Championship at PGA National in West Palm Beach in July. Shot 76 (5700 yards) at the IJGT tournament at Architects on April 26, 2015. Last tournament at Bethpage yellow (5,800 yds) I shot +6 for a 77 on 6/26. I recently shot +4 (76) at the NYC Championship on first round to make the cut for day 2.  Shot 76 +3 at the Met PGA tournament of champions at Sands Point Golf Club to make the cut and tied for 3rd. 
What makes me different is that I am always honest about my scores and work hard to improve my golf game.  I also strive to do extremely well academically. I am a member of the National Honor Society and mainted a 95+ average all 3 years in HS, I also scored very high on the SAT test.
Golf and school are equally important and I want to attend a challenging university and be part of an exciting golf team.
