Personal Statement
Golf has always been a part of my life, though I never really became that interested until I was about 10 years old. I started to play more and more and played in my first tournaments for the U.S. Kids Golf Tour in 2013. I played in 5 total tournaments and came in 1st place for 4 of them. I was at this time in my first year at Golftec and worked all year round to eventually play on the NOPGA tour in the summer of 2014. I am still currently a member of Golftec.
For my freshman year of high school, I was the only girl to play golf, and played on the boys varsity team. I played from the men's tees the whole year. When the sectionals came around, I was able to play with the girls as an individual. I moved on to the district tournament after that. My sophomore year, I continued to play with the boys and eventually made it all the way to the OHSAA State Championships in Columbus, Ohio and had the honor to play on Ohio State's home course.
My main collegiate goal is to earn a degree in the field of my choice and be successful in something that I will enjoy doing the rest of my life. Of course, I aspire to one day continue a career in golf, if possible, while playing at higher levels.
I am a good candidate for any team. This is because I take pride in what I do. I put hard work and 100% effort into anything I do, whether in sports, or in the classroom. In the classroom, I love to learn new things and to expand my knowledge. I always do my work and go above and beyond expectations, even if that means I need to study for hours on end. On the course, I am focused. Though it is hard to move on from bad shots at times, I know that better things are ahead and I can't dwell on what has already happened. For example, with experience in other team sports, I have learned that a bad shot, or a bad hit does not define who you are or determine the rest of that game ; you must move on. Both on and off of the field/course I am a leader and hope to help and inspire others by setting good examples. I aspire to play on a Women's golf team in college and be able to have an actual team environment. I never give up and know that there are always ways to make up for and improve upon mistakes. In a team atmosphere, I like to cheer on and work with others. Staying positive and my work ethic to achieve my goals is what separates me from others.
