Personal Statement
Golf has been a huge part of my life since I was eight years old. Everyday I would go out and practice with my dad, making and reaching new goals for myself over the years. Being on varsity all four years for high school taught me the value of teamwork, sacrifice and the commitment that I had to put into golf. Without commitment I would have gotten nothing done, and committing to something for so long was difficult, especially when I had to miss important things because I had to golf, but looking back at how far I have come makes me happy that I kept my commitment. My coach made me captain of the team my Junior and Senior year, this helped to show me the role of leadership, and also allowed me to help the other girls on the team so we could all grow together. The last two years of my high school career, were also the toughest. Since my dad passed away in 2014, it was hard to find my motivation to keep playing, since I golfed with him everyday. Losing my dad helped me realize what golf means to me, trying to find motivation was hard, but after I got back to playing at my normal pace again I realized how many ways golf helps to shape the person I am. While I am on the golf course I am my happiest. I look back on how far I have come since I first started playing and it shows me how if you really commit yourself to something, you can become your best at it. I believe that I would be a great candidate for a college level team because I have not only the talent, but also the character and work ethic that will allow me to make a lasting impact on the team.
