My name is Madalyn Ardueser, and I am a 16 year old senior in high school. I am home schooled, and play golf for Willamette High School in Eugene, Oregon. Because I am graduating at the age of 16, I plan on taking college prep courses for one to two years after graduation. Then attend a 4 year university starting in either 2016 or 2017.
When I was a baby my dad would hold me and we would watch golf on T.V., I was quiet and couldn’t keep my eyes off the screen. I finally picked up a golf club at the age of 2, and started playing competitively at the age of 7. I joined my local high school golf team as a 13 year old freshman, and earned the #1 varsity position my first day, and I have kept that position ever since. I have placed top 10 in the 5A State tournament 3 years in a row, including two top 5 finishes my sophomore and junior year. I am also the back-to-back Midwestern League District champion (sophomore and junior year), shooting a career low 68 the final day of the 2014 championship to capture my second District champion title.
My parents signed me up for The First Tee program at the age of 7 to help me overcome my shyness. Through this program I have not only grown as a golfer, but a person. One of the first things they teach you is the 9 core values, one of which is confidence. By learning this core value I have learned to be confident in myself, yet humble. I am currently in the Ace level, and I junior coach all the other levels. This past year The First Tee has provided me two incredible opportunities. The first was to attend the Lifeskills and Leadership Academy at San Diego State University. The second opportunity was getting to play in a Champions Tour event at the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. I was able to play side-by-side with the Champions Tour players, and learn from them.
Aside from golf, I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with my friends and family. Some of my hobbies include archery; horseback riding; snowmobiling; dirt bike riding; fishing; and photography. I am also the drummer on worship team at my church.
My goal is to play collegiate golf, and be a key contributor to the team. After college my goal is to turn pro, and continue to give back to the game that has given me so much.
