Bridget Merten '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Bridget Merten and I am a junior at Mars Area School District in Mars, PA. I’ve been playing golf for 7 years now, and I am tremendously eager to play golf in college. During my sophomore year of high school, I received 3rd place in regionals and tied for 9th out of 20 within the state of Pennsylvania. I am an athlete who doesn’t mind trying new techniques and new ways of doing things. My coaches would say I am an individual who gives 110% both on and off the field.  I always try to have a positive outlook.  I enjoy competition within the team.  I believe that constant competition helps to improve a player’s game. Academically, I struggled throughout my freshmen and sophomore years of high school.  In my junior year, I have applied myself and have been able to keep a 4.0 through each grading period.  I plan to stay on high honor roll for the rest of high school and throughout college.  Once I’m in college, I plan to major in marketing and graduate in 2020 with my bachelor’s degree.  I find that what sets me apart from other recruits is that I won’t let a bad round get me down.  I always try to keep a positive attitude on and off the golf course. Athletically, I believe that practice makes perfect.  If you’re not willing to practice, then you shouldn’t be expecting to win.  Finally, I have struggled in the past with school, but have recently achieved goals that I didn’t think I could reach.  I anticipate this year’s golf season to be the same.  My goal for 2015 is to rank in the top 3 of states.
