My name is Avery Smith and I live in Summerville, SC. I am originally from upstate NY in a small town called Watertown. I lived there until I was about 8 years old, then we moved to SC. I enjoy living in SC because of the beach nearby and being able to golf year-round. In my free time I obviously love to play golf, but I also love spending time with my friends, school events, the beach, shopping, and going on drives. I am looking for a school that well suites me and has a good golf program. Golf has been apart of my life since I was 2 years old. When we moved to SC I got serious with it and started playing in tournaments. I won my first serious tournament in 2020 in Virginia for a PKB Girls tournament. I have won a few PKB since then. High school golf is probably my favorite time of year because I get to spend it with my teamates and my coach. I have been regional player of the year for 3 years in a row now, and placed 5th/88 girls in my state last year. My personal best is a (-4) 68, which I shot at Dunes West playing in the Holy City Cup. My high school golf coach is a big part of my life, he was originally my 8th grade social studies teacher. We bonded over golf and other things, and I would miss LOTS of school for golf tournaments. 9th grade year right before HS season started our coach resigned, so I emailed Coach Wells and asked him to be coach, which he accepted. It is now my junior year and he has been in my life ever since. He will be kind when needed and be encouraging to help me to my best abilities, but also gives me tough love when i need it if I make stupid decisions on the golf course or slack on my schoolwork. Thats a little about me!
