Personal Statement
The highlight of my golf career was competing with my teammates for the Georgia State 5A Championship in 2014. However, I probably learned more by missing the cut to make it back to State by one stroke in 2015. This taught me that I need to make every shot count, and that you cannot look to far forward or worry about anything in your past. I am very proud of this group of girls and miss them dearly after returning to Texas with my family last summer. It was in these last tournaments of 2014 and 2015, where I shot new personal bests, that I began to believe that I can continue to get better and become a collegiate golfer.
I have been fortunate to be in two different programs, with two great coaches. However, I believe that the relationship I am developing with Coach Ross here in Texas will be very beneficial to my improvement as a student athlete. I have always been a long hitter (Driver 250+), but now have a coach that focuses primarily on my mental game, short game and putting. My parents have always talked with me about commitment and sacrifice, Coach Ross is teaching me what that means for my golf game. Short Game! Short Game! Short Game! J In my second tournament under Coach Ross, I was on my way to a new personal tournament best when we were rained out on the 15th hole. It was still a good day, as I took home the third-place medal and my team earned first place. This makes me excited to see how good we can get as a team and how much I can improve individually.
I am looking for an opportunity to play in a third program and continue to learn from my coaches. I will bring my fun-loving attitude, my commitment to getting better, and my desire to challenge myself academically and athletically to your program. I know I can be a benefit both on and off the course.
If you believe I would be a good fit for you program, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks,
Jordyn
