Tiarra Rodrigues '17 Recruiting Profile

"Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do", Pele. I love a good challenge, I am not afraid of tackling new or not often seen. Throughout high school I have maintained my position in honor's band as a 1st chair saxophone, moving from the alto-sax to the tenor saxophone. This year I have joined the elite 4% to 7% of high school band students who qualify for a position in the Regional and Area Band. I have taken the toughest Advanced Placement courses in every core subject required for my diploma, from English, Math, Science, to Social Studies; all while holding a coveted position in my schools Engineering Academy. I have been enticed by others to take less rigorous courses, and though sometimes tempting, I still prefer to learning and making a "C" vs learning nothing and receiving an "A". My GPA is currently 3.0/4.0 and 4.5/6.0. I think of how much higher it would have been, had I taken general classes. Why should you choose me to join your team, I don't believe in short cuts. I believe that discipline, hard work combined with good coaching and integrated technology can make average above average. After high school I will no longer have to split my time with band, I will be able to focus all my talents and work ethic on becoming an elite golf player, I will be an asset to any team, coach and university who takes a chance on me.
