It was at age 11 when I took up the sport of golf and instantly fell in love with the game. Between each golf lesson I would spend hours at the driving range perfecting my swing. With total focus and concentration I would watch the pros and read everything about the game and learn golf etiquette. I hungered for more information and playing time. Ironically, when my game brought me to great frustration I found that I loved it even more. Challenges have always catapulted me to the next level. My drive, discipline, and determination never waned. As my game continued to improve, my instructors advised me to enter various tournaments to hone my skills and improve my game. My accomplishments include:
· The first female to win State for my school Division
· Won Division 1A Girls Individual for the State of Texas
· Participate in two very select golf groups
· Play for Dallas Academy.
The kind of determination, enthusiasm, and focus that I put forth in golf is exactly what I do for my academic studies. I completed a successful sophomore year at 93.3% and a 3.3GPA. My highest grades were in physics, math, and world geography/history. I was the first student production manager for the lower school children’s play that is traditionally assigned to a teacher’s assistant.
While managing a full study load and a busy golf schedule I maintain a 5-hour a week position at the local veterinarian office, a 25 hour per week job at Trader Joes, and council the youth division at Steubenville Christian ministries summer camp. I am certified in CPR and CMT emergency protocol.
Even with my mixed Summer Tournament results in golfing, I have not wavered in my commitment to succeed. This summer I was diagnosed with Vertigo. I have since learned how to deal with this and like my CMT (two feet smaller than one another, balance problems and stiffness of joints) I continue to strive to improve every day.
My dreams are to win the college title in women’s golf, become a forensic historical architect, a doctor, or pursue a career in golf management. The word ‘never’ was not permitted in my house as my mother firmly forbid it. She encouraged me to always have aspirations and achieve my dreams.
I welcome the opportunity to speak to you and understand what your organization stands for and see if there is a fit.
