With my golf season of junior year about to start up, I realize that my childhood is now in my past. It's time to start thinking about college and plans for the future. With hard work and dedication, there is nothing standing in my way to be a successful student-athlete in college as i am and will be at Port Neches-Groves High School. I have set goals to graduate in 2017 with academics honors, and improve my Junior Scoreboard ranking. Academics and golf have many things that are in common with each other, particularly hard work, discipline, and mental strength which will also make me motivated person for life after college.
Being a hard worker in my academics, spills over into my hard work ethic in bettering my golf skills. Setting goals allows me to push myself to be a better student, person, and golfer. Sitting at home working with my dad on my next golf tournament for my cancer foundation Karlei Hemler's Junior's Against Canerand helping with The First Tee, takes up most of my spare time. Putting forth hours on the golf course, enables me to be a better player for the pressures in competition and a better leader for the girl's high school golf team.

To Whom It May Concern:
I have known Karlei Hemler for the last 3 years and I have been her swing coach at Games People Play for the last year. From this experience, I can say with confidence that Karlei is a dedicated student athlete who leads from example and will be an asset to any future team.
As a freshman, Karlei became a varsity player for the Port Neches-Groves High School girl’s golf team. During the season, Karlei practices everyday, either at school or with me in structured golf lessons. She has averaged a 79 over the course of her freshman year in golf.
During the year that I had the privilege of coaching her, Karlei stood out as a leader both on and off the course. She started her on charity golf tournament, Karlei Hemler Junior’s Against Cancer, in honor of her aunt that passed away from cancer. She is active in her local church and the First Tee of the Golden Triangle.
Karlei's goal is to play golf in college. I know that she will be an outstanding addition to any college team. If you have any questions about Karlei or need film, please feel free to contact me at (409) 344-0205.
Sincerely,
Mitch Duncan, PGA Apprentice

Discipline helps me to stay in control of my attitude and reactions on and off the course. It is too easy to stray from the goals i have set for myself as a student, athlete, and person. Having mental strength is a very important factor in golf. Without it can make the game harder than it already is. By playing in different conditions weather, my mental game has improved tremendously, making me a stronger and tougher golfer. It helps me stay strong when the others are not. With mental strength i can overcome many challenges and obstacles that life ahead may bring me.
With my academic and athletic goals for the future, I am helping myself become a better person on and off the course. With hard work, discipline, mental strength and dedication, i am ready for what the future may bring.
