I really decided that I could have success in the game of golf after playing my first high school tournament as a freshman. I felt all the emotions that come with carrying all the pressures of the game of golf on my shoulders all alone. I was in control and knew I could find success in this sport if I committed to it and worked hard. As a freshman I shot a 105 at state, a 91 as a sophomore and an 86 my junior year. I’ve only gotten better because of growth and dedication to private lessons and playing in tournaments off season. And, love for the game!
I’ve learned to remember in this game that your biggest opponent is always yourself and that frustration brings you down. It is not okay cheating yourself short of the job you should have accomplished. You should always be proud of the job you did, and learn of the mistakes you’ve made to fix them early. Planning everything in advance and being organized academically and athletically is something I take pride in. Playing college golf would be a wonderful experience and honor but my education is top priority. With my strong family values and religious beliefs, I have a solid work ethic that would transition to college. I would be grateful for the opportunity to participate in both on a collegiate level.
