Personal Statement
I am very interested in playing Division 1 golf at a four year institution that will give me a strong education and the ability to be successful as a college graduate. Geographical location is less important to me than are academics and the potential to contribute to a strong women's program somewhere.
I have been playing golf since I was 7 years old through junior camps and my club. However, it wasn't until the last few years that I became serious about the sport. I am so committed to continuing to improve that I have stopped swimming year around so that I have more time to focus on golf. I am a member of the International Country Club in Fairfax, VA. My swing coach is a Head Professional PGA Assistant at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, VA. He recently was named the Head Golf Coach of my Varsity Golf Team at Oakton High School.
My teachers and other adults who know me best describe me as a very focused, disciplined and driven individual. Whether it is in the classroom or on the course, I focus on what I am trying to accomplish and then figure out a plan to achieve my desired results. I am straight A student at Oakton in honors and AP courses and higher levels of Latin. On the course, I continue to drive down my handicap and 18 hole score by playing in competitive tournaments, practicing, working with my swing coach and spending time in the gym so that I can be a stronger player.
I believe that I will be able to make a valuable contribution to any team. I demonstrate natural leadership skills (see profile) in school and on the course, whether it is trying to lead by example or by encouraging others to do their best by being positive and helpful. These attributes will enable me to be successful in golf and in life.
