Personal Statement
I have been competing in golf since I was six years old. My extensive tournament experiences will be valuable in college.
My goals for college golf are to qualify for all of the tournaments, continue to improve all aspects of my game, build lasting relationships with my teammates, and to be an All-American.
I would be a good candidate because I have developed important leadership skills through my experiences. As a camp counselor for young equestrians, I learned patience, effective communication skills, and the need for a calm demeanor. All of these skills have helped me on the golf course. In addition, both my high school coach and private swing coach appreciate that I am coachable.
Being an equestrian has taught me to trust myself and my intuition, patience, control my fears, discipline and responsibility, and to fall and fail but to always keep trying. I carry these attributes onto the golf course with me in practice and competition.
This year I started working out with an athletic trainer just for golf. He has worked with me on balance, body control, improvement in strength, and conditioning.
I have attained a cumulative 3.98 GPA and plan to take additional AP and honor classes in my remaining high school years.
