Kailey Taebel '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kailey Taebel.  I am a junior at Stoughton High School, graduating in 2015.  Since I was a young girl, my dad has shared his passion for golf with me.  In middle school, golf became my own passion.  I began my high school career as a Freshman on the Varsity Golf Team, however, I knew I needed to continue to improve, for both myself and my team.  Through lessons, help from my dad (my high school golf coach), playing in tournaments, and attending camps, I continue to work hard to improve in all areas of my game.  This hard work will continue to be important as I enter my senior year and hopefully have the opportunity to play collegiate golf.

At age thirteen, I was diagnosed with a disease called Celiacs, which is treated by eating a gluten-free diet.  Living with this disease has taught me the values of commitment, determination, and persistence.  These values are important not only in treating my disease, but also are skills that help me in my academic work, as well as my play on the golf course.  My faith also helps me be strong in all that I do.

Throughout my high school career, I have challenged myself by taking accelerated and college prep courses.  I am also studying Spanish as a second language.  I have been a consistent honor roll student.  During my senior year, I plan on taking several AP classes.  In addition to coursework, I feel strongly about being involved in extracurricular activities, volunteering, and giving back to others.  I am involved in Key Club, Prom Committee, Life of a Viking, Champions Counsel, and am an officer for Student Senate.  I have taught Sunday School for the past two years. I have also volunteered my time over the past year to help a local family that is low-income.  

Being a member, and now President of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), I have learned from many of our college athlete speakers what a privilege it is to be part of a college sport.  Not only do you get to continue to do something you love, but you also get to be part of a team, excel in academics, and potentially serve as a role model for younger athletes.
