September 2016Personal Statement
My name is Taryn Mayer, and I am currently a senior at Evanston High School in Evanston, Wyoming. I have a 3.46 grade point average while taking AP courses. My ACT score is 18 and I am retaking the exam again to improve my score. I am
looking for a school with a strong psychology department.
I played on the Evanston HS golf team for four years and have had 1 top-ten
finish in the Wyoming High School State Tournament, and 3 top-ten finishes for Wyoming West Conference. I have been playing competitive schedule of events for past three summers. I qualified for the Girls Junior America’s Cup (GJAC) for the past 2 years representing Team Wyoming.
Last year my scoring average in state and regional competition from approximately
5600 yards is 86.3. I am hitting the ball farther this year and have been
working hard on my short game. I know my senior year will be even better.
My discipline and desire to do well in the classroom carries over to my golf
game, and I am looking forward to the challenge of college golf.
I have also participated in other extracurricular activities. Currently I am working out with a Cross Fit trainer four times a week. Enclosed you will find a resume of my accomplishments in golf as well as my other activities.
