Personal Statement
Hi my name is Zoe Manriquez and I absolutely love hockey. I've been playing since I was 9 years old, and I started in a not quite so normal way. I was introduced to hockey when my friend invited me to come ice skating and not mentioning it was a girl's hockey clinic. When I got to the rink, my friends mom exclaimed how happy she was to see me and helped me get fitted in gear. From the moment I stepped on the ice I loved the sport, I felt at home. Ever since that moment, my love for the sport grew more and more each day.
I began playing goalie because one game our regular goalie for my first summer team didn't want to play goalie for a the game, and ten year old me thought that playing goalie would be a great idea, so I happily volunteered, and I fell in love. I then played a few years of house hockey and then began to play travel hockey.
After a few seasons of playing both defense and goalie, I decided to strictly play goalie.
I played my first year of travel as a 2nd year peewee, I then played two more years of travel, then went to high school hockey during my sophomore year.
When I'm not on the ice though, I love to weld, read, write and draw.
Welding is my passion and it is my goal to make a career out of it. I already have a few certifications.
I hope this helped you get to know me a little better. Thank you for your time.
