Personal Statement
I am Arianna Harden, and I am a junior at Desert Ridge HS. My favorite subjects are Science and Math. I have maintained a 4.3 average, that includes honors classes, AAA Hockey in another state, vex robotics and volunteering. I am looking forward to playing ice hockey in college, but I also want to be sure I attend a school where I will get a great education. I would like to study Engineering, with an emphasis in Bioengineering, my favorite. I am currently exploring my college and/or university options that will allow me to obtain the best education
My sports career has been well-rounded, allowing me to increase all of my athletic prowess. I have participated in track and field, tennis, gymnastics, softball, swimming, figure staking and ice hockey since I was 6 years old. I participate in Travel hockey, and I am currently on the 19AAA team, the Lady Ducks. I am fortunate to also maintain my athletic conditioning since I also have a personal trainer.
While many youths my age enjoy playing sports, my passion goes beyond the skills. I am intrigued by the strategy and systems of the game. I have a high hockey IQ and vision of the field, which allows me to ease in flowing from a defense to offense posture. I am disciplined, alert, focused, engaged and am a team player with excellent leadership skills. I am a good listener and can adjust my game according to what the coach and team asks of me. I was also selected to attend the multi-player camp in Colorado Springs, recently. The coaches all made the comment that I am coachable, taking directions well, a compliment to a young hockey player. I also have exceptional skating skills. The team and I made nationals for the 19AA this last year and it was an incredible experience that continues to shape my love for the sport. I am competitive but always show good sportsmanship. Most importantly, I have a lot of respect for the other players on my team and my coaches. I also know that the disciplines and strategies I learn while playing sports, shapes my values and moral compass for my future as an adult. For this, I am eternally grateful to my parents, coaches and team mates.
