Personal Statement
My name is Courtney Moriarty and I am in the 7th grade at this time. I am 5' 4'' and weigh 110 pounds. I started skating when I was 2.5 years old and changed to hockey at age 5. All of my inhouse and travel teams I have been the only girl. For the past two years I played on the Florida Everblades 96 boys AAA team. We played out of the NEHL leaque. This year is my first year at bantam age and I am playing back with the local Florida Everblades leaque. I was the captain of our team this year, I am a team leader, hardest worker on and off the ice, fastest skater, one of the hardest shots at 56MPH, I work well with others and am a team player. At this time I practice with our team two nights a week and do private clinics twice a week. My AAA coach from the past two years still trains me on and off the ice. I am very dedicated and work out on my own at home. About three years ago I played with the Team Florida U12 team that went to nationals. Last summer my birth year was still to young to go to the elite camp, but I was invited and attended.
My dream has always been to play college hockey and hopefully advance to the olympics. I want to play at the highest level that fits my skills, I hope to play as a freshman and go to a college that I can get a good education for a well paying job afterwards. Right now I am mainly looking for a good hockey career. I have two brothers that played travel hockey, one is going to a prep school in Mass area next year. The other brother will be starting college next year. With all of us traveling and schools I will be applying for whatever financial help and scholarships I can earn. At this time I am not sure what I want to major in college.
