Personal Statement
Throughout my high school career, I feel that I have gained a lot from the 2015-2016 Varsity season. We had gotten a by in the first round of playoffs and lost to a team that we had beat 8-0 and 4-1 in the regular season. It taught me how to motivate my teammates in a time of need and how to play every game as if you were down, no matter what team you are playing. That season had also taught me to lead my team when we needed it the most. Before the third period started, we were losing 3-0. After I had given my quick speech and gave my teammates motivation, we went out into the 3rd and scored two goals. It wasn't enough to pull the win out, but it didn't matter. It felt good to know that I helped my teammates to play the best they could and helped lead our team.
I am a very hard worker and an all around team player. I trust my teammates to always have my back and I know that my teammates can trust me to do the same for them. When I see a teammate out of focus or frustrated about a bad play, I make sure to tell them to leave it in the past and do all that I can to boost their motivation so that they can get back out on the ice and play the game that I know they're capable of. I am going to be the Assitant captain of the Shrewsbury High School Varsity hockey team in the winter, and I am very excited to be able to finally demonstrate my true leadership skills as well as being a great role model and influence for the younger girls. I love hockey so much and I have been playing for about 13 years now. It's always been my dream to get a hockey scholarship and to reach this goal, I am always working hard to improve my skills during every single practice and game. Aside from hockey, I am also a very hard worker in school. I maintain mostly straight A's throughout both semesters and I work very diligently on all of my work. I hope to keep these same grades for junior and senior year.
