Throughout my high school experiences as a hockey player and teammate I have learned a lot on and off the ice. During my sophomore year, the 2015-2016 season, we had an amazing season. My team worked hard to stay positive no matter what the circumstances so that we could continue to work our hardest. Starting off the season we lost our first game. No team wants to start a season with a loss, so we knew we had to make a change. As the season continued I worked as hard as I could on and off the ice to cheer on my teammates and tell them what they did good. The rest of our season had its ups and downs but in the end we were league champs. First round playoffs we got a bi and played a team we beat 8-0 and 4-1 in our regular season. We lost. This game taught me that you need to fight hard until the final second of the game or you will not win.
As a student, my goal is to succeed and perform to the best of my ability. This is the same in sports. As both an athlete and student I strive to push myself past comfort level in order to learn new things and become better at everything I do. I believe that if you push yourself in everything you do it will benefit you in the end and make you better. Like all recruits, I want to play hockey in college, but in order to do that I know that I need to do the work to get myself there. I take the advice of my coaches and teachers very seriously because I understand that they have a lot to teach. I want to achieve success and with the right tools I know that I can do great things.
As a junior in high school, I was invited to the MIAA Sportmanship Summit along with three of my teammates at Gillette Stadium. I was honored to be invited because it showed me that my hard work as teammate was paying off. When I asked why I was picked out of so many student athletes, I was told my support for my team and my respectful manner on the ice stood out to him. This is a behavior that I strive to keep and bring with me to any team I play for. Because of this I think I would make a good addition for your college team.
