Tessa Schaefer-Flynn '18 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing hockey since I was eight years old and have loved it from the second I held my first stick on the ice. While sports did not always come naturally to me, the passion I felt for the game forced me to work hard, put in the extra effort and dedicate myself to learn every aspect of the game.

Upon learning the basic rules of hockey, I was hooked. I spent my spare time learning as much as I could about the game. I was fortunate to have parents who recognized my passion for the sport and enrolled me in several hockey camps and clinics during my school vacations.

After my initial two years of playing hockey, I was determined to attend a Prep School to focus my talents on the game. By my thirteenth birthday, I had visited and was accepted into several Prep Schools throughout New England.

I ultimately chose Kents Hill School in Kents Hill, Maine as the program was in a building year. I was thrilled to be a part of the exciting development of the team. We have had low numbers on the team, but now are looking up and forward under the direction of Kim Nanof (returning Coach) and Emilie Arseneault (Assistant Coach). My studies are as important to me as my athletics, and Kents Hill has provided me a strong academic background. I am extremely hard working and have consistently received high honors in all three trimesters of my freshman and sophomore years.

I am proud that I achieved the personal goal of playing prep school hockey and am now using the same drive to reach my new goal – playing Hockey in College while pursuing my academic studies.  I am looking for a college experience that encompasses both of these passions.
