Personal Statement
My name is Jenny Heath and I will graduate in 2018. Working hard and making sure I have fun are the two things I do in hockey. My freshman year, I became the first girl to play on the boys’ varsity hockey team for my high school. It was challenging, but I really enjoyed playing with my friends and representing the community my freshman and sophomore year.
When someone asks me what are my goals and dreams I have a hard time answering that question. Goals are in the present, dreams are in the future. My goals are to practice getting more speed so I can keep up with the boys, good hands so when I go up the ice or I’m trying to get past someone, and to get my shot stronger so I can score more. My dreams are to play college hockey and work my butt off to get into the Olympics. There's a difference between goals and dreams, you need to accomplish your goals to fulfill your dreams.
Hockey is my life, I play every day and it’s my safe haven. Over the year’s hockey has taught me teamwork, friendship, working hard, and having fun. I’m a team player; I want our team to succeed. I help my team succeed by motivating teammates to do their best and to work as a team.
Currently, I play defense for Little Caesars U19. I have primarily played boys hockey up till this past season (2016/2017). I'm currently trying to get adjusted to playing girls hockey (as opposed to boys). I'm a strong, physical, defensemen with a hard slap-shot from the point. In playing boys varsity high school hockey, I am strong on the puck and body and I play with my head up, and have proven to be very strong on my skates. I have been invited to the USA Hockey Development Camp in St. Cloud the past 3 years.
