Personal Statement
My goal as a student athlete has always been to play college hockey. Playing college hockey would be a great experience, because getting to play the sport I love, as well as, work on a degree would be an amazing opportunity. My goal is to play at the highest collegiate level that my performance on the ice and in the classroom allows me to do.
One thing I believe sets me apart from other players is my mental toughness. Playing goalie isn't always the easiest job in the world. We sometimes have to work harder and push further than the rest of the team. Being mentally tough is a key part of my game. I never go into a game thinking we are going to lose. I put myself in the mind set that if I, as well as my team play the to the best of our ability we will never lose, no matter what the score board says. I go into practices with 2 or 3 things to work on during practice, just to have something to focus on and not just go through the motions.
My academic drive is very well the same as my athletic drive. In the classroom, for every class I walk into, I go in thinking, what am I going to learn today, and I walk away asking, myself what have I learned. One thing I would possibly like to pursue in college is a pre-med program. I realize and accept this will require hard work and am willing to push myself to do so.
I have a passion to challenge myself with new and difficult things, playing at a high level and going to a good school would allow me to do so.
