Personal Statement
Growing up I tried many different sports and activities, such as t-ball, gymnastics, dance, piano, etc., but after 6 years of tagging along to the rink to watch my older brothers play hockey, I decided at the age of 8 that I wanted to be just like them. Once I started skating, I realized that this is the sport I love, excel at, and want to take as far as I can.
I was extremely lucky to have some amazing coaches when first starting hockey. They were great role models and their daily motto was “Work Hard and Have Fun". It’s something that I continue to take to heart and apply to my life on and off the ice. As a very competitive person, trying to be my best in everything I do, hockey allows me to push myself while allowing me to be a part of a team working toward the same goals.
Through high school my goals are to continue to play AAA hockey while maintaining a strong GPA and participating in extra curricular activities (track and lacrosse). Playing D1 Women’s Hockey while obtaining a degree in Business Management is next on my list. I would love to play for the USA Women’s National Hockey team—it’s a very common goal that MANY skaters have but I would like to see how close I can come.
