Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Jamie Byrne.
On the ice I am a play-making center that is willing to do the little things to win games. I battle in the corners for loose pucks, backcheck and win faceoffs. The strengths of my game are my hands and vision. I am a very skilled stickhandler, passer and distributor of the puck. Although I am not very big, I am very strong for my size and have quick feet and hands. I have always been the type of player that makes my teammates better and I always put my team first.
I have experience competing and achieving against top competition. My freshman and sophomore years, my team played AA against many of the top teams in the state of Minnesota. Off season I have played High Performance, Selects, Premier Prep, Super Series, and have played on two different AAA teams. I have played both with and against girls that are at the Division 1 level and I am very confident that I can compete at the highest level. I have been involved in my school's workout program since 7th grade. I shoot and stickhandle in my garage very frequently and am always working hard to improve.
Off the ice I am a hard working student that is very focused and driven. I am not afraid to put in the time that is necessary to achieve my academic goals. My study habits are very much like my work ethic on the ice. Although I love hockey, I understand academics come first. I am a hard worker both on and off the ice.
