I was born in State College, Pennsylvania, and moved to Missoula, Montana when I was 5 years old. I tried a variety of different sports when I was younger but didn't develop an interest in any until I tried hockey at age 9 and instantly fell in love. When I was younger, I was never the best on my team in terms of skill- but I knew I had the upper hand when it came to passion and hard work. My mother has always had just two expectations for me: to work hard and dedicate myself to what I love, and I've stuck by that for every activity I've done. I always look forward to each practice or game, using every opportunity I can to work harder and become better. My belief is that success is a direct result of hard work; I can't cheat myself out of working hard, so I make an effort to put 100% into everything I do. I can feel it paying off, too- I am a completely different player now compared to when I first started.
I hope to play college hockey because I know I still have so much more to learn. Being able to play at the college level will open my mind to so many new skills and allow me to work with people with ideas entirely different from my own. I relish a challenge and the chance to improve, and I know that the opportunity of playing college hockey will be an experience I will never regret.
