Stephanie Mercier '11 Recruiting Profile

My name is Stephanie Mercier, I am 5,6" and weight about 135lbs. I'm a quick footed goaltender with great reflexes. My most important asset in my game is the heart I bring to a team. I never give up and I always keep pushing until the puck passes that red line. I love to encourage my teammates. I play better under pressure, which is a great quality during finals and shoot outs. My most important accomplishment was leading my team to the Ontario Federation of Secondary School Athletics championships for the first time in twenty years, winning a decisive game 2-1 and being outshot 38-12. I also got interviewed after the game as the MVP. When it comes to working hard, I won't back down. I love it when someone tells me I can't do something, for it pushes me to accomplish that obstacle and to rock it. I always have a smile on my face. I realize that I'm lucky to be playing a sport I love and negative toughts are always pushed away. During tournaments, you can find me with my teammates or when I have a little time off, I find the time to work on my flexibility and strenght with some yoga or stretches. It doesn't really matter where I go to school, the most important thing for me is that I find a school with both great academic and athletic programs. I come from a school of 40 students, so small schools do not bother me. The size of the school is not the most important thing to me and I'm ready to consider any schools of any sizes. The type of school does not bother me either, I look at new experiences like great opportunities. Since I was eight years old, I've looked up to the olympian team wishing one day I could play by their sides. As I grew up, my goals became more realistic. I still believe that with a lot of hard work, I will one day make it to the nationnal level, yet that day is far and so right now I'm taking it one step at a time and climbing those steps with all the effort that I can possibly give.
