Personal Statement
I stand out in many different ways in both the classroom and on the ice. I am involved in Track and Field at my high school as well as academic programs. I am a member of the National Honor Society; to be a part of this society you have to fulfill leadership, service, scholarship, and character requirements. During the school day I attend college classes held off school campus. I keep involved in my community through my church, I went on a Mission Trip this summer to Virginia Beach where I helped the less fortunate and people who just needed hope. I maintain good grades throughout the school year, achieving honor roll every quarter. I also attended PFEW (Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week) during the summer to get insight of the business world. During this camp your group makes its own company for the product you are assigned; this involves team work, mathematics, advertising, and business skills. My character is what really separates me from others; I'm not afraid to get people involved or greet them. For example when a new teammate is introduced, I always try my best to make that individual comfortable. I can make friends with almost anyone. I really enjoy making people laugh and I'm usually remembered for my humor. I love helping people physically and emotionally. I'm usually the person people go to when they're having a hard time. I started playing hockey in Erie and then in Pittsburgh where I have played for a few teams. Steel City Selects is my main team but a couple years ago I was asked to play with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite (AAA) in Minnesota for a league weekend. The coach stated that was their best league weekend. I also played with the North Hills Vipers this past season to help them with some of their season and the playoffs. I would like to continue playing hockey in college while pursuing a degree in mathematics and eventually a job as a statistician or actuary.
