~~My name is Alyvia Kendall and I play left defense/Center for the Big Sky Wildcats AA team.
I first began skating at age 5, but with a toe pick. I was a figure skater for 7 years before making the transition to hockey. While figure skating I competed in many competitions winning around 25 goals medals and quite a few silver and bronze. Figure skating taught me a lot that crossed over into hockey. First of all is helped me tremendously with my skating ability. Coming from a figure skating background I have excellent balance, speed and agility. The second thing it helped me with is my confidence. Competing took a lot of guts.
When I decided to enroll in learn to play hockey at age 10 it was to accompany a friend not myself because I was a figure skater not a hockey player. However, I instantly fell in love with the sport. I continued to play hockey and figure skated for the next 2 year. I had a goal in figure skating which was to learn and execute an Axel in a performance. Once I accomplished that goal I made the decision to commit myself 100% to hockey.
There is not a girls program in my town of Spokane, Washington. So for the first 2 years I played exclusively with the boys. In 2013 I tried out for the Montana Big Sky Wildcats. I only made the team as an alternate... I was very disappointed. I did not let that keep me down! I trained harder. I work 2 to 3 days with a skating and shooting coach. Worked on shooting every chance I get at home and on the ice. Last year in 2014 I went back and tried out again. This time I made the team as the youngest member. I have been told many time I may not be the biggest skater on the ice but a lot of times I am the toughest. I never say quit. We can be up or down by 5 goals and I will still play like it’s a tie game and every goal counts.
The Big Sky Wildcats won our District Championships this year in Gillette, Wyoming and went on to compete in the 2015 USA Tier II National Championships in Lansing Michigan.
My other team the Missoula Lady Bruins that I have played for the last 2 seasons was 2nd in State in 2014 and 2015.
I am looking for a college that will not only challenge me in the sport that I love but challenge me in the classroom. I currently have a 3.8 GPA while taking almost all advance classes. I would like to find a college with an excellent hockey and Pre-med/science program.
For the 2015/2016 Season I am played for the Seattle Lady Admirals 16UAAA from Seattle Washington.
Last year year for 2016/2017 I play for the CDA Hockey Academy in the CSSHL league.
Currently I am playing for the Big Sky Wildcats 19U AA
