Personal Statement
Having Fun in Hockey ~ https://youtu.be/DV6IbL4wxbs
A student athlete currently ranked in the top 17% of my class academically with all honors and AP courses, I would like to attend a college that will challenge me both academically and athletically ... in that order.
I consider myself an unselfish player, eager to learn and contribute to the success of a team. I have an excellent work ethic and possess the grit needed to accomplish any goal that I set my mind to accomplish. I consider skating with speed and quick transitions to be my greatest asset. I have great hockey IQ,. I can and have played both forward and defensive positions. Coming from a very goal oriented and highly motivated family, doing your best, working hard, and not making excuses is the motto to be successful in life.
I have played for the Pittsburgh Pens Elite since I was 8 years old and have been fortunate enough to participate in each USA Hockey National championship since I was 11, earning two bronze medals along the way. I thrive on competition, have been involved in competitive sports all my life, and strive to always rise to any challenge.
I have played competitive hockey for 14 years having played for WAHA, Arctic Foxes, WPHS and the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite [U8 to U18]
In the past 5 years, I have amassed 120 career points in her AAA hockey career with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite having scored 57 goals and 63 assists being +29 on the ice.
I have also played for Wheeling Park High School from middle school through Varsity and was named Assistant Captain in my Senior Year.
Academic Achievements
A true student athlete, I have a current semester GPA of 4.83 and an overall GPA of 4.3 having taken all AP, CP, and Honors classes for 4 years.
I have been named a PAHL Academic All-star, a PIHL Academic Scholar, am a member of the National Honor Society, French National Honor Society, French Club Vice President, and have served as a Freshman Mentor at WPHS.
Volunteer Work
I volunteer a great deal in the community participating in Math Tutoring, at the Local Soup Kitchen, as a Student Hockey Coach, as a Sled Hockey Volunteer and have contributed 210 hours as a Safety Town Counselor [a two-week program for children ages 4-5 to learn all types of safety]
