Personal Statement

Academics are my first priority as I wish to attend a well-established university and plan to major in Chemistry. My current high school curriculum is based on all advanced, honors or AP classes. Many extra hours are spent studying to keep a high GPA (4.0 GPA) and excel in all my classes.

One of my unique qualities is that I spent many years training in martial arts. This has made me very disciplined, self motivated, coachable and a strategic thinker during games. I've earned a 2nd degree black belt in TKD and a Red Belt in Karate and participated in many tournaments. I think this gives me a different mental perspective from other girls I know as well as on the lacrosse field.

Lacrosse is my passion. I'm self-motivated and practice every day. This isn't a popular sport in Alabama, especially among the girls - so I like to practice and do drills with the boys at school.  This summer, I will be giving lessons to younger girls in my community in order to improve their skills outside of the club play.

I would also love to overcome any stereotypes about southern girls in the sport. I'm an aggressive player with excellent ball handling skills, good shooting skills, and off ball movement.  Although I've only been playing for 4 years, I've been Most Valuable Player 3 of those years and 1st Team All State both of my high school years. I strive to always improve, be a better player and take constructive criticism from my coaches. My mother films my games - I love to rewatch the film to assess my play for improvements and analyze my opponents.  Two other important characteristics are that I'm a good communicator on the field and have always been a leader on my team.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
