Personal Statement
I started lacrosse in seventh grade. My sister had played on the varsity level in high school so I had an idea of what to expect. My eighth grade year I broke my wrist in a soccer game and wasn't able to play, so entering freshman year, I was nervous. I was given the opportunity by my coach to either make JV and play often, or make Varsity and not play much. I decided on Varsity level because I thought that even if I didn't play much, I would receive better coaching and have the ability to play with better girls. I didn't play at all in my first game, but by the end of the season, I was starting the State Championship game.
I also play soccer and basketball, so my off season is normally pretty packed, however, when I get the opportunity, I work on strength training, endurance and stick skills. I am usually never out of shape and keep up my health with exercise year round and a good diet. I have varsity lettered all three sports all of my high school career, so I know what it takes to play at the higher level and I have the commitment to work hard and push the team.
I attend a more rigid school than most, so achieving good academics comes with a lot of hard work for me. I am willing and expect to work hard not only in the classroom but also on the field. I can promise you, I will be your most passionate recruit.
I don't have a lot of free time during the school year, but when I get a chance to do service work, I thoroughly enjoy Habitat for Humanity. We have a club and opportunity to work through our school, which is how I was exposed to the idea. I love being able to help families and people who are struggling or have been through tragedy and just need some help getting back on their feet. I think it's very important that people who have had greater options and opportunities are able to spread the things they've learned through those experiences to better lives.
