Personal Statement
Hi, I'm Abbey and love lacrosse! I began playing my freshman year where I decided to try goalie and thank goodness I did. Lacrosse has made such a positive impact on my life, from the first time I put on my pads to recently playing and winning a state championship game I have come so far and I can not wait to keep growing athletically and academically to my full potential.
As long as I can remember, all I've ever wanted to do was make people happy and be surrounded in laughter, whether it be in the classroom, on the stage, or on the field. Just being able to learn new skills and spend time with people I love, puts me in this unstoppable feeling of pure joy. I believe that is why once I saw that I had the chance to be on a team full of amazing girls, let alone be the goalie, I was amazed. I've always been a leader, from leading the student council as President in middle school, to letting my team know where exactly the ball is at all times, and taking that one extra hit to keep the opponents from scoring. Between practices for two hours every weekday and practicing an additional two hours with a goalie coach, as well as being a part of new teams with new girls couldn't break me of this passionate love and excitement for lacrosse.
When I hear people describe me it's normally," she's a good kind of special." All the work I have put in through hours of practice including goalie practice and conditioning after school to before school 6AM speed school workouts is paying off. This year I made Cathedral's varsity girls lacrosse team as a sophomore starting goalie. Going from a freshman based team to a upperclassmen oriented varsity team has taught me so much and inspired me to be the best I can be. It even pushed me academically to strive for the best pushing my 3.59 semester one GPA to a 3.98 for semester two. Above all lacrosse has taught me how to be a better person, giving me strength physically, mentally, and emotionally. In general my favorite thing to do is to make new friends and to make everyone feel special and loved. My college goals would definetly be to play lacrosse, continue performing in theater performances, continue my studies to get into medical schools for forensics, and all around make others smile.
