My name is Macy Fugitte and I am a goalie in the class of 2019. I have been aspiring to play in collage ever since I picked up a stick. I started playing lacrosse in first grade when I was six years old. My coach came into my classroom and said "Who thinks lax is cool?" then he proceeded to raise my hand and then emailed my parents saying that he signed me up for the next clinic. In my six years playing field defense I grew to love the sport but one day my coach (the same one who signed me up to play the sport) came to me and said "I have thought about it and you are going to play goalie." I have always been an easy kid who goes with the flow so I simply said "Okay". Once I was put in the goal I really started to excel. I played up on the Junior Varsity team as a middle schooler and was a starter for the Junior Varsity. I had finally found what I had loved. My sophomore year I was pulled up to the varsity team. I was playing behind a senior goalie which really pushed me to try my hardest, being around others of equal or greater ability pushes me to be my best. I have been recognized in multiple ways such as MVP of the Braveheart finals in 2015 and 2016, a 2017 Kentucky All-Star, and a 2017 State Champion.
I consider myself different from others because I am very hardworking. I devote at least 60 minutes a day to bettering myself for lax whether it is running, practicing in the goal, watching film, or even doing my jumprope. I think that my constant grind to get better sets me above the masses. My strengths in the goal are: free positions, bounce shots, and especially running the defense. On and off the field I am always trying to lead others. I have defiantly never meet a stranger so I think that helps me in the sense that I will jump into the goal and start talking. Finally my biggest asset is my ability to stop shots and clear the ball with both my left and right hand. Ever since I have picked up the stick I have been ambidextrous.
During the school year most of my time goes into my studies when I am not playing lax. I go to Kentucky Country Day school a prep school in Louisville, Kentucky. At KCD you must work twice as hard as normal to earn your grades. During my freshman year I held a cumulative 3.7 gpa, and during my sophomore year I continued to hold a 3.7.
Thank you to everyone who has read my 'story' and hopefully my dreams of playing lacrosse in collage come true and can be added as another chapter in my story.
Sincerely,
Macy
