Personal Statement
Hello my name is Naomi Plant. I attend Arlee High School in western Montana. I have many excellent qualities that make me a good student-athlete for any school I attend. In this essay I will talk about 1)my athletics and academics, 2)why a would be a good candidate for a college team, 3)what make me different; my community service projects, and 4) my goals and aspirations.
First, I am a good example of a well rounded, good student athlete. I have a 3.54 GPA and I am working towards a Honors Diploma in 2017. My favorite sport is lacrosse! I love the game and it has helped my become a team leader. I have been chosen to be Captain two years in row and I make efforts to be a leader on and off the field. My motto is ...I lead by example and I do my best. I also try to have a great attitude win or lose. I have been fortunate lacrosse started in Montana. My fondest memory from this sport is receiving all-state attack position two years in a row. Also, for two years our team won the Girls’ High School Lacrosse State Championship and this year we placed second.
Second, I would be a good candidate for any college team because I work hard at my studies, sports and extracurricular activities; I have good time management because I have a 3.5 grade point average. I work very hard to keep my grades up. I do my best to get my homework done before I go to bed. On occasion I have gotten up early in the morning to finish an assignment. I always make sure I get my core classes done first like math and science. I like math and science. I have done well with my sophomore math. I was asked to represent our School at the annual Mathematics Competition called the MCTM Math Competition held in Missoula. As for science class, I enjoy learning science. I like learning how things work.
Third, I would add diversity to any college program and I have lots to offer. I have had many life experiences in my life so far. I enjoy my participation in community and extracurricular activities. Since I live on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Western Montana. Our community is small and rural. I am a strong advocate in community service. I have been fortunate because I am able to give back to my community. I am involved in many service projects. I am involved with our school's mentoring program similar to Big Brothers and Big Sister. I am mentoring 2nd grader. I have been her big sister for two years. This has been one of my most rewarding experience I have ever done. I also helped organize a winter coat drive at our school. The winter items we collected were discreetly and respectfully given to children in need at our school. My little was in need of winter wear. I am part of a grassroots program in Arlee High School called Reservation Ambassadors. I am involved with the St. Ignatius Dance Troupe. We educated and perform for audiences to teach them about Native American Dance. I am a Native American Jingle Dancers. Also, I help grow the game of lacrosse on the Flathead Indian Reservation. I help teach the fundamentals of lacrosse at Arlee Elementary and St. Ignatius Elementary. I am involved in many other school activities: Arlee High School Indian Club (vice-president). I am also Arlee Student Body Sophomore Vice-president. Last year, one of my fondest events was being chosen by American Youth Leadership Program to travel to Cambodia at 15, I was the youngest student ever to participate in the program.
Fourth, my goals and aspiration is medicine. I got interested in the medical field from my dad. My dad was the first to graduate in his family and is a registered nurse for Indian Health Service. I think being in the medical field fits with my interest of helping people.
In summary, I would be an excellent student athlete for your college. I will work hard on and off the field. I will participate in the college community I become a part of. I love playing lacrosse and I will be easy to coach.
Thank,
Naomi
