I started Lacrosse as a junior in high school and felt my time was short and that's because it was. My time is limited. People who play sports and are good at it usually start at the age of 5. How could I compare? My drive and my refusal to be a burden to the team pushed me to strive to be better. The first week I couldn't catch the ball. After repetitive practice and discipline, I was sprinting and learning stick skills and maneuvering, unlike the rest of the new people.
I had taken a break from lacrosse to go into wrestling season. Going back to lacrosse after the break, I again felt like I had lost time. Trying to catch up I worked day and night to be the best I could be and that landed me in a position to be a starter and play in varsity games. My constant and rapid improvement led me to compete at a varsity level. Without my coaches, my dad, and my teammates who push me and guide me, I wouldn’t be able to compete which I did. I knew from the moment I started playing that the limited time I had in high school wasn’t enough. My hunger to play more, learn more, and excel wasn’t satisfied. It is more than a sport; It is a passion. I’m ready to take the next steps in my journey of lacrosse.
