Personal Statement
I am a very serious lacrosse player and fully committed to my desire to play lacrosse at a Division I school as well as Division II and III schools. I am equally committed to my academics and desire to pursue a professional career in medicine or law.
I began playing lacrosse during the summer before the beginning 7th grade. I was asked by high school Coach Katy Weiser (coach of Bonanza High School) to try out and I made it as a starter on her high school varsity team in Las Vegas. In 8th grade I made it as a starter on another high school varsity team named Palo Verde. As a Freshman I went on to make it as a starter on my varsity high school team at Bishop Gorman Prepatory School. (http://www.bishopgorman.org/)
That same year I made the “Vegas Impact Players” travel team and competed in tournaments with them. During this past summer I engaged in an intense 8 week training session 4 days a week at the Philippi Sports Institute. (http://www.philippisportsinstitute.com) building my core strength, agility and speed.
During July 2012, I traveled to Boston, Massachusetts
to play in the Nike Top of the Class Showcase Camp (http://www.ussportscamps.com/lacrosse/nike/nike-top-of-the-class-lacrosse-camp/). Even thought I am a sophomore in High School, I was placed to play with the seniors as I am at that level of play. I also participated in a 7 vs 7 indoor league this summer as well.
This year I am excited about playing on my high school lacrosse team, the “Vegas Impact Players” travel team and also becoming an assistant instructor to the middle school girls’ lacrosse program. I am currently playing Fall Ball this fall in Las Vegas as well. This year I have also made the varsity Golf Team at Bishop Gorman. I am looking forward to upcoming tournaments and attending as many invitations whether from camps or tournaments. In future I am also looking forward to be able to be a referee to the middle school girl’s lacrosse teams.
On the academic side, I am interested in a professional career in medicine and/or law. My freshman year at Bishop Gorman I achieved a 4.05 GPA, made the Academic Society and continue to have a successful year. I am preparing for my PSATs as well as the other college entrance exams. As a sophomore to date I am maintaining my GPA status (straight A’s).
Other activities that I enjoy are rock climbing, babysitting, swimming, hanging out with friends, baking, and sewing. I really like to spend time outdoors. I always like to be playing lacrosse, going for a run, going for a bike ride, or riding my ripstick. I enjoy going to the beach because I bogie board and skim board.
My dream is to play for a Division I school that is strong in its athletics but equally as good academically. I would like to become a medical professional and have the option to also get some sort of law experience. I would dream of traveling to different places throughout the world and experience the different cultures, languages and people.
